Ok I am going to reach out to all the electronic guys for some help.
My stepson had an odd device delivered to our house and I am trying to figure out what it may be. He is not the most honest person and has a severe meth habit so I feel it may have some nefarious use. It is 3 parts. A battery, main body and it looks like an antennae. The main body has 2 buttons One large red and a small white one.
Any help would be appreciated. With this kids track record I am afraid of what it might be.

My first thought is bug detector (hidden wireless cameras or microphones). Would your stepson think he's being spied upon because of his history with drug abuse?
Could you post more pictures from pretty much every angle and closeups so any text can be read? There's a bit of glare on the right side of the device in the photo that would be good to avoid. Also something for scale would be helpful. I was able to make out what I believe is Huahong. They are a semiconductor company. I don't know if just the part inside was made by them or the whole thing.

Seeing the antenna, I thought it might very well be an EMP jammer. But I was to sure since these usually have an almost closed loop and this little antenna was strange. But a little research gave me this :

So it definitely is an EMP jammer. I would say it's use might very well be dishonest...
EDIT :
For those who are curious, it seems that the antenna is screwed right on the center of the coil which is indeed a closed loop. So the antenna is probably redirecting the electromagnetic pulses generated.

Slot machines are pretty much bulletproof. I have worked on a lot of them. I’ve seen lots of crazy gizmos and trinkets that claim to work.
BUT....
If you get caught in a casino with something like this, there are three groups that are coming for you. And trust me, I would rather be mugged by a gang in a dark alley than go up against 1: The Mob, 2: The State Gaming Authority, 3: IRS and last but not lease the Casino Club Association. The last one can Ban you from ALL the casinos in the state or nation.
Because I repair arcade machines, I can lose everything if I am caught with one of these in a casino.

It can be used to reset electronic padlocks too.

Wow, Likera has moved into WITT? (

Confronted him about it and his plan was to try it at car washes and then try an Indian casino if he had been successful.

Huh. TIL. Wonder if you can use the beam former of a microwave to target it and use it to annoy the neighbors.
